Are You Tough Enough to Wear Pink? What is it?Tough Enough to Wear Pink (TETWP) was created by entrepreneur and breast cancer survivor Terry Wheatley to bring the sport of professional rodeo and the western community together to rally against breast cancer. Since its inception in 2004, TETWP has empowered rodeos and western events in the U.S. and Canada to focus attention on the need for a cure. To date, the campaign has raised $5 million dollars for breast cancer charities, much of which stays right in the community. The Days of 47 Rodeo runs 7 days in July from the 18th through July 25th, taking Sunday the 24th off. Tuesday night, July 20th is "Are You Tough Enough to Wear Pink?" theme night. Our goal is to flood the stands with pink that night to increase awareness for cancer research! All proceeds from the bandana sells are going to Huntsman Cancer Foundation to fight all kinds of cancer, not just breast cancer. Why Are We Involved?Ellis Financial Group is a father and son team. In November 2008, Marv Sr's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was stage 4, with the cancer found in her breasts, lymph nodes, bones and liver. She went through chemo and with the help of targeted drugs to keep the cancer at bay, she has been treatable, but not curable. Everything was working well until December 2010 when she started showing signs of slurred speech, headaches and motor skill issues. At first she thought she just had a bad cold, but in Feb. 2011 they found out that she has a brain tumor the size of a large egg. Without treatment they gave her only a few weeks to live. She chose treatment and so far is doing well. Also, as we were wrapping up the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign in 2010, Marv Sr. was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His story has a happier ending, because after surgery in Oct 2010 he is now cancer free. Cancer is a huge part of their lives and has also affected many of their clients. This is their way to give back to the community and fight against this terrible disease. They have chosen Hunstman Cancer Foundation, because 100% of the raised money goes towards research and they fight all types of cancer. Selling Bandanas and Collector PinsTo help raise money and awareness, we are selling pink bandanas for a $1 to wear that night. In addition, we are going to have created a collector's pin to sell for $2 as well. All proceeds going directly to Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Our goal in 2010 was to raise $10,000 through bandana sells and sponsorship, which we accomplished. Our goal in 2011 is to double that amount to $20,000.Becoming a SponsorThere are only going to be 3 prime sponsors and 2 mini sponsors on the bandana. Printing for the bandanas is going to be April 30th, so we are needing to fill the sponsorship spots soon. Here is what each sponsorship type receive. Prime Bandana Sponsorship
Mini Bandana Sponsorship
To become a sponsor on the bandanas, give us a call at (801) 295-7373 and ask for Sandy or Marv Ellis Jr.
