Go Green–Receive Raymond James Statements and Prospectuses Electronically

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

By Melissa Ellis
Investment Executive

If you currently have a login to Raymond James Investor access did you know that you can select to have you Raymond James statements and other information from Raymond James sent electronically?

Please note that those who had selected to have their statements suppressed previously will need to reselect this option in the new Investor Access system.  Raymond James made a change to their Investor Access in October 2009 and this feature did NOT transfer over to the new system.  You will need reselect this service by following the instructions below.

Login to Investor Access and go to the Account Services tab and select Statement and Trade Confirmation Delivery Options.  You then have the option to select to receive statements and trade confirmation online only, by mail, or online monthly and paper annually.  You can select different options for different accounts.

If you currently don’t have access to view your account online visit our website at www.marvinellis.com and click on the Investor Access icon in the top right corner.  Then click on the link Enroll in Investor Access.  Please make sure that you have your Raymond James statement nearby as you will need to enter your account number along with your personal information in order to establish a login.

In addition, it has just been announced that as of January 25, 2010 you can also elect to receive your prospectuses from Raymond James electronically.  This means the mail you receive from Raymond James can be reduced even more.  We are very excited about this new and hope your mailbox is too!

To sign up to receive your prospectuses electronically login to Investor Access and go to the Account Services tab and select Shareholder Communication Delivery Options.  Once electronic delivery is elected, you will receive an e-mail notification to confirm enrollment. A printed notification will also be mailed to the address of record to indicate the election of the electronic delivery of the prospectuses.

Please be assured that you can resume postal delivery of prospectuses at any time by changing your election in Investor Access. Any change of election, however, may not go into effect until the following business day.

Please note that we as your advisors are still required to send you a copy of these prospectuses as well.  We usually send them electronically in hopes to save a few trees.  However, if you don’t have an email address on file with us we send them in the mail.

Please also note that some materials may not be available in electronic format.  If the materials are not available in electronic format, clients will receive the materials by mail at their address of record.

If you have any questions about these processes please feel free to call our office (801-295-7373) or our Investor Access line at 1-877-752-2237 and we would be glad to help as we feel these changes will be greatly beneficial to you!

It's not too late to make 2008 contributions to your IRA!

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

As April 15th approaches, many people are focused on the approaching tax reporting deadline.

We at Business & Personal Planning Solutions, Inc. are also concentrating on this deadline.

Did you know that it is not too late to make a qualified contribution to a traditional IRA, Roth IRA, or SEP IRA for the tax year 2008?

If you have not made a contribution for 2008, or have only made a partial contribution, you may make contributions up to April 15, 2009! You are eligible to deposit a total of $5,000 per IRA, or if over the age of 50, a “catch-up” contribution totaling $6,000.

SEP IRA’s can include up to 25% of your salary.

If you qualify, you can even have your tax return contributed to your IRA. If you would like to know more about this, give us a call.

If you would like to make a contribution, need more information, or have any other questions regarding IRA contributions for 2008 or 2009, please call our office. We would be happy to verify for you whether 2008 contributions have been made, for how much and if you qualify to make an additional contribution to your IRA for 2008.

Deposit of your contribution MUST be made before 3:00 pm on April 15, 2009. So don’t delay! (After April 15th – contributions will be coded as 2009.)

What is going on in our office

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

While the current market conditions have been keeping us all very busy at work we have also been busy outside of work. Here are a few highlights of the events that have been going on in our personal lives.

The biggest news in the office is that Marv Sr.’s wife was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer back on November 6, 2008. It had also spread to her liver and 4 places in her bones. They began chemo treatments shortly after her diagnosis and although the side effects she has experienced from the chemo have left her very uncomfortable she seems to be responding well to the treatments and tests show the cancer diminishing. All of your thoughts and prayers have been greatly appreciated and we continue to hope for the best.

Marv Jr passed his Series 7 and 66 in the spring of 2008 and also purchased a long awaited new home in Kaysville. His wife, Jolyn, has also decided to go back to school to become a physical therapist which has kept their family busy.

Diane recently sent her oldest son on an LDS mission in August of 2008 and has been busy supporting her daughter who is actively involved in music competitions and preparing for her first prom! When Diane isn’t working in our office she continues to volunteer herself to her neighbors and community.

Melissa is adjusting to life as a mom and is enjoying watching her son grow up before her eyes. He is now one and beginning to walk around the house. She has also been enjoying competing in agility with her border collie. She entered her first agility trial in December and took 2nd place!

Heritage Checking & Elite Account Changes

For those of you who have received a notice from Raymond James telling you about increased fees for your Heritage check writing or Elite accounts, please give us a call. Raymond James is changing their program and other options are available that do not charge any fees.
